Does it snow in Mukteshwar?

Yes, occasionally. Snow falls in Mukteshwar mainly in December and January, but no week is guaranteed, so think of it as a bonus rather than the plan. What winter does promise is the clearest air of the year: on bright mornings the Panchachuli range is visible from the house, and a short walk uphill brings Nanda Devi into view.

Winter weather & what to pack

From December to February, days average around 12–14 °C and nights around 2–4 °C, and nights can fall below freezing (IMD 1991–2020 normals for Mukteshwar). Bring warm layers, a heavy jacket, a cap and gloves, warm socks and comfortable walking shoes. After heavy snow, hill roads can be slow, so travel in daylight and check conditions before you set out.
